When children reach school age, your scheduled well child visits will become annual, with visits in between as needed for illnesses, discussions with the doctor regarding diet, behavior and development. You may also need to schedule a visit to receive medical forms for athletic teams and other activities, in addition to your school forms. Fit Life Pediatric Consultants is here to help.
During your annual well child visit, the doctor will check your child’s vital functions, vision, hearing, height, weight and blood pressure. She will make sure that his or her immunizations are up to date, as well as discuss diet, exercise and sleep. She can also refer you to other health professionals such as a dentist for checkups, or a pediatric ophthalmologist if she detects any eye problems during the exam.
Dr. Mafut is concerned about your child’s mental and emotional well-being, and not just his or her physical health. If you or your child have concerns about school experiences, trouble with friends, stress or family challenges, it is perfectly appropriate to discuss these with her.
